Housing
Fire salamanders are amazingly hardy and not very difficult to keep in captivity. As for their housing requirements, they need little more than a basic setup. A 10-gallon tank is suitable, containing water (at a fairly low level, to prevent escape) and a “land” area, which can easily be made out of large rocks. A thick sheaf of sphagnum moss should also be included to provide a hiding place for your salamander. These creatures need moisture, so it is a good idea to mist the tank with some water every few days.
