Natural History of Leopard Geckos

Leopard geckos can be found in the wild in northern India, Pakistan, and possibly Afghanistan. The regions they populate are arid with a substantial amount of cover, and these lizards spend much of their daylight hours tucked away in their underground homes. They are relatively small in size, growing to a maximum length of about 8 inches.

The leopard gecko’s popularity in the pet trade has steadily risen over the past few decades. The physical beauty of these lizards is only the beginning of their appeal. They are loved for their friendliness (some leopard geckos even seem to almost recognize their owner, quickly making their way over to you when their cage is opened!), relatively simple care requirements, and adaptability.
